Is Not Magazine Is Not is an intriguing experiment in publication design by the kids over at Chase & Galley. A couple of years down the track wtih international cult following, they asked me to whip up some hand-lettering for their Talk is/not Cheap issue. I was honored. Each letter was individually drawn by hand (the 'is/not' was drawn as one piece) and each took its own form, sometimes referencing the crazy ornamentation of Melbourne's ubiquitous Victorian wrought iron, other times just shaping the swashes, arcs and arbitrary strokes of my imagination and hand.
