Theatre Cards

Here are two examples of some promotional cards for two theatre performances in NYC.

Cowboy Mouth was written by Patti Smith and Sam Shepard during an infamous stay at the Chelsea Hotel. Drawing upon two key symbols in the play— a dead crow and a man in a lobster suit— I created these illustrations out of cut magazines as literal interpretations of the animalistic dialogue.

Hablo, Diablo [tr. "I speak, devil"] was a one-woman show that premiered at the Makor Theatre at the very cool 92nd Street Y. The play was about one woman's dilemmas and inner dialogue, and was very much a fluctuating and emotional piece. I scratched in the lettering for the title into a piece of card with an old fountain pen in order to achieve a textured and layered quality that remained decidedly feminine.
